question about the 272 sr1
 

I am considering buying one of the twin big block 272 sr1 boats, I like the 89,90,91 style. How are thes hulls, what should I be looking for, when buying used? Are they a wide enough beam, for 27ft? What is the better years for that era, because there are a few stock ones on line for sale between 16k and 20k

I had a 1989 272 w/twin 454's and Bravo's. Great boat, solid ride, real quality (like alll Formula's). The Imron and SS hardware still looked great when I sold it in 2004. Only reason I sold it was to get a 357. The engines had almost 1000 hrs on them and the guy I sold it to put a couple hundred more on them. Boat would go about 62 mph tops, but probably one of the best rides for a 27' boat (remember in that year they did not include the swim platform so it is a couple feet longer than the newer 271's). There was a lot more detail on the interior and cabin then there is now (loved the liquor decanters!). If that's the size boat you want, I highly recommend it....

I just sold my 85 272 had the 350s was a excellent ride. I owned it for 7 years only thing I had to do to it other tham maintance was replace the shifters. She had 750hrs on her when i sold her ,was very reliable I crosses lake erie in her always out in 3to 5s no issues

brick chit-house when new......but it's a 20 year old boat, get it surveyed!!! If taken care of it's one of very few 20 year old boats I'd consider buying. Unfortunately in 20 years it could have had an owner that trashed it.

I agree check the stringers for sure

and its still going, a friend of mine owns it almost 1300 and counting

Cool! It just goes to show you with the 454's, don't break into 'em if you don't have to. Just treat 'em nice and leave 'em alone...

454's taken car of, lift kept, 1500 watt stereo etc...

That is a nice boat, that is the exact year i like, was there many changes between the 1991 and the 89?. I still havnt bought one yet, just looking at all my options.

nope, the major change came in 92 when Formula integrated the platform and called it a 271
