2 inch shorty on a 271 sr-1?
Has anyone done this? And what was the end result? Thinking of doing this to mine.

For some reasom, 271s have a tough time planning off in stock form with a deep drive. I don't think a shorty on a 271 would be a good combination.

Ya it does take some time to get on plane but I run a 4 blade 28p bravo now. A 4 blade has a lot of prop in the water just wondering if you raise the x dim I might find some more speed.

does your hull have the hooks in it like the 242 does?

EDIT: Below is with a fastech, not sr1.
The following is experiences from "RattlesnakeJake" from the Speedwake forums, shared in a mail-correspondence between us. I hope he doesn't mind me posting it here.

There's another 271 in the area with a 650 HP Supercharged 502 and he's running a 1" spacer on his XR drive to get it deeper. In theory the shortie should have given me better all round performance. But like the saying goes, "If the results disprove the theory, go with the results and get a new theory. |
