The 311 was all that would fit in my marinas rack storage and we didn't want to move. Kind of a lame reason but true!

the length of the bow on my 357. it is a great ride not that the 311 insn't, just my preferance. i really like the look and the lines of the 357. but it is a heavy boat to tow around but I do it. :evilb:

If I step up the 311 would be my choice strickly for trailering purposes

One of the first things I noticed in the 357 after being in MANY 311's is the extra width. You really can tell, even though its not much. I love the ride of both, but preferred the ride of the bigger boat.

PS- YES, they are HEAVY.

Up until last Spring, I owned an '89 311 for eight years and loved every ride I ever took on it. It was a lot of fun to drive, because it was small enough that you could still feel the ride, but big enough to handle the rough stuff. I only sold it because I (like everyone else with a boat) decided that I wanted to go a little faster... I even toyed with the idea of re-powering it, but the last time I tried to do that with another boat I owned, it didn't go quite as well as planned... so I went a different route this time.

During the same time I owned my 311, my best friend (who now owns a 31 Sonic) owned a 357. Needless to say I spent many awesome hours on both vessels, and with stock power (both had 420's w/TRS) would definitely choose the 311 over the 357, for the type of boating that I do. NOW, throw in a pair of 700SCI's w/NXT#6's and take me off the Niagara River and put me in the Ocean and you might get me to change my mind!

You really need to drive both... Then it comes down to the type of boating that you do, and the size of the water that you're primarily doing it in. The good news is... regardless of which boat you choose, you'll end up with one of the best offshore boats ever built! :boat:
