water under the floor of the cabin

I am accumulating water under the floor of the cabin. I drained it (by soaking a towel and wringing it out) a couple of days ago. Went out yesterday and got into a little rain (not that much though) and now it is more full that when I drained it! What are some of you doing for solutions to this? It seems that there should be a drain to allow this to empty with the rest of the bilge...

ok, just did a bunch of searching so let me revise my post!

this seems like a common problem, why the heck would formula create a space for water to collect and not incorporate a way to drain it? I guess now my main quesiton is, since I dont know how long water has been in there... is there any wood up there in an 87 f3ls that could be rotten? any other problems with water being up here? I drained it with a towel and it seemed to be roughly 1 1/2 gallons or so...

sorry to be the ebarer of bad news, but i think theres much more where that came from. you might want to check and see if the cockpit floor is sealed properly.

formula used wood to contruct the stringers, i had a formula sr-311 1987 and had to re enforce all the stringers new wood, glass and foam. check in the cabin the sides of the seating area see if the wood there is rotten

the only rotten wood found in the cabin so far is the wall that is directly below the door. the seats and all are solid right now

you do make a good point that i hadnt considered... how far do the stringers run forward? hopefully they are sealed up in there!!! where is the easiest access point to the stringers in the cabin assuming there run that far foreward

I had to redo both stringers, basically removed te entire cabin and even re glassed the cabin bildge, then laid marine plywood an d then filled with foam. try punching the bottom part of the seats, see if it penetrates easily then the wood is probably rotten.

is there any way to get the water out from under the cabin floor?:evilb:

unfortunatly i found that there was no drainage from the cabin to the engine room bildge. I guess formula thought that there should never be any reason for water to get there in the first place, or something.
