You say your 302 has a porta-potti. So, there is likely not a separate waste holding tank. The tank is the base of the porta-potti. Look in the potti room and see if there are fittings and hoses hooked to the porta-potti.

You also said you can see "where the lake water comes in". If you're seeing the valve in engine bay on the bottome of the boat, that is not incoming lake water - at least it better not be. That is the offshore discharge from your macerator pump. Look under the front cushions in the bow and see if you have a macerator pump. If you do, and if your porta-potti is still plumbed as it came from the factory, then the waste hose goes from the porta-potti to the macerator. From the macerator you can direct flow to either the waste pump-out or the discharge valve (I think).

In any event, you need to check out all of this plumbing very carefully and make sure it's in good shape and still connected tightly. You can imagine the outcome if its not. Do this before you hook up to one of those marina vacuums.

And, it may not be connected. I removed all of the waste plumbing from my boat and capped of the pump and valve. Couldn't stand the thought of KA-KA stuck in those corregated hoses. I just use the potti as a true porta-potti taking it out to empty it. And of course, only the girls can use it. Guys, jump overboard and do your thing.

Know also that if your through-hull discharge valve is still connected and functional, you cannot use it on inland waters and you can only use it in the ocean if you're far enough out, I think it's five miles but I'm not sure.

Unfortunately He's right ..... AGAIN !!!! Dolt!

ok i got home and looked.. the big line is going to the pump and its run right out the side of the boat!
then theres a small one inch line also goin in to the toilet.

there is another 2inch line but it is capped off.. that must of went to the holding tank??

is the holding tank hard to remove?

offthefront 06-10-2010 08:23 PM

The one inch line should be just a vent from the toilet to a vent thru the hull ...there should be a about 1.5" line from the toilet to the Macerator then out of the Macerator to a "Y" Valve that will allow you to either pump the waste out of the head to the Thru hull in the engine room out of the boat (illegal) or to the sewage discharge cap up on the Starboard deck .....If its not like that ..someone has changed it ....m
