what horsepower needed for 65mph on gps

the boat 1984 f302

would 500hp apiece do it (1000)
or 450hp?

what do you think?

Fountain4402 06-17-2010 11:22 AM

i have a 91 fountain fever 29 with twin 454 and goes 73 75 or so. I woud think twin 454's would get you there easily, if not 502's

My 1992 formula 336 is probably closer to your hull than the fountain. It did about 65 with the stock 502 mag with 390 hp. It does 72 now with HP500s ++.

My 311 did 68-70 with 502 Mags (415 hp) so that shoul get you there. With the 500 HP's in there I am still trying to get the right prop, but I am well over 72.

thats all good news.. looking at building two 496 this winter around 475 500 hp apiece

BillFormula 06-17-2010 08:28 PM

i have a 302 with around 1150-1200 hp total I have not got the right props yet but i have seen 74 with a little more to go

Did the same thing last year, pushes my 357 to 65 on the gps. That should easily get you there.
Good luck, BC
