What is the top end mph?

Magicfloat 06-28-2010 05:15 PM

Normally mid 80's. We had one that was 87 GPS

t500hps 06-28-2010 05:59 PM

Looking at one in VA?......if so it's 2 miles from my house and looked OK after a brief look last month.

gregsweeney 06-28-2010 07:33 PM

Yes. The 07 repo. Are u interested in it as well? Do u agree it is about a mid-80's mph boat?

Rippem 06-28-2010 09:08 PM

I have run one. The High Voltage catalog boat.
couple tenths under 84 full of fuel, lotso gear and 3 adults in mild water.

No, I just sold a 2002 382 with 630hp 540's.......and it ran mid 80's. If Magicfloat said it....I'd believe it, but I too think mid 80's is correct. The repo lot is about 2 miles from my house and one of the best gun/fishing stores in the region is next door........I stop in there every couple weeks to look around at boat, RV's, guns, and anything else that might catch my eye.

I was told that 382 only has 30ish hours and was a upper bay/salt water boat. It looks like it was used but not washed/cleaned like I would have liked (but I wash/dry my boats after every use and keep them in a garage). The guys at the repo lot will be straight with you so ask away if you call them.

It wouldn't be a lot of power/weight for NXTs, but are you sure it has NXTs? In 07 the 600s were not available from Merc with NXT drives, only XRs. If it is XRs you will need to be careful, and periodically they will need a rebuild with that weight/power combination.

Yes, last year I bought a 2000 38tg Phil had totally restored. The boat is a straight bottom running between 76-80mph. Pix on www.lipship.com.

I'm considering something newer and faster. Have talked to Phil about a 39 unlimited but also looking around at other options.

gregsweeney 06-29-2010 12:22 PM

Couple more questions guys.

1. besides the $ what's the difference between the ITS Bravo One XR and the Bravo One XR?

2. Will a generator equipped 382 still do mid-80's?

Thanks.

Mentalpause 06-29-2010 12:59 PM

Merc ITS gives you about 5 inches of set back plus it contains your hydraulic steering. If you have a B1 XR drive it probably has a 3rd party hydraulic steering, likely Latham on a fastek (I think).

t500hps 06-29-2010 01:10 PM

and the ITS boat is a little faster although I was told it did not make a big difference on that hull. The added weight of a genny isn't that big of a deal on a heavy pig like the 382 but I'm curious where the water p/u is. That could create drag and could effect the boat 1-2 mph. If you think you'll use the genny then the speed would be a non-issue IMO.

gregsweeney 06-29-2010 04:29 PM

Thanks guys. Good info.

Magicfloat 06-29-2010 05:19 PM

All of my speed #'s are with genset boats.Formula uses a low drag pickup on 382's.

Hey Greg, Hilltop Marine on Cumberland is brokering the 07 Poker Run Boat w/ 700's.

The guy bought it off Formula after the poker run season and he has been trying to sell it since 09. I would imagine the guy would love an offer!

gregsweeney 06-30-2010 04:49 PM

I've seen that one advertised, not sure i want to step up to the 700's but you never know.

The repo boat just looks like it could be a great deal.

If it's only a little more money I'd go for 700's.......but I'm sure the repo on has some room left in the price.

Expensive Date 06-30-2010 08:09 PM

The 700 boat more than likely has better drives. But going from a Cigarette you need to drive one first.
