what to do with my original rubrail?

i have the original rubrail on my 84 f302 it has the robe in the center of the rubrail. it has nasty silicon all the way around it. should i scrap the old silicon off and redo the silicon or replace the rubrail?
the original rubrail isnt damaged or anything

I just replaced the rubrail on my 242LS and it looks mint. The installer used a black "silicone" type sealer all the way around. Makes it look brand new. I would scrape off the old and reseal with black.

I just have the solid black rub rail that was turning whiteish. I rubbed it with acetone and it brought it back nice. I don't have rope in the center

I took mine off painted it and installed a white insert. No silicone no leaks.
