steering with trs drives sloppy

have a f302 with trs drives yhe steering is sloppy like driving an old tractor. when the boat is in the water and there is slight waves the drives move back and forth arent they suppose to be stiffer steering then that? do i need external steering?

There really should be little or no slop in the outdrive when you grab it and pull it up or side to side. Do that to see if you can determine where it is loose.
You can buy new bushings for the outdrive, not a simple project but if you replace the worn parts, now you can go to external steering. Before you go to external steering you need a good solid system without any slop in it.

Take off your tie bar and move the drives side to side. Look for the play in the system. You will need some one to help you out. It is likely the tiller pin and arm that are loose. Once you figure out the location of it being loose come back and we can help you with that is the best route to fix it.
