Cleaning "Ultra Suede" in cabin
 

Hello, and excuse this if it's been discussed before:

We have a '89 272 SR-1 Formula with grey Ultra-suede-ish fabric on the cushions of the interior cabin (benches or couches). They're dirty and I'm looking for the color-safest cleaner to use on this fabric. I'm thinking of a foam type (Woolite), scrub it in, then vacuum off. Anybody have any experience?

Is that stuff the same as what they currently use (Ultra-Leather)????

I have the same problem.Its time for the Boilerdaddy hotline. Too bad he's driving a boat someplace warm and sunny with hardly a breeze blowing. :cool:

It's definately an ultra-suede, rather than smooth ultra-leather. I just did a search and found some sites, but they list different approaches depending on what type of ultrasuede it is. We may have to wait until boilerdaddy gets back from his tedious "business trip" ;) to find out what it really is...

I use an automotive carpet/upholstery cleaner. Several brands have been used, all with good results. The kinds I use come in an aerosol can with a scrubbrush built onto the top of the can.

I have also used the Woolite stuff with good results.

Mine has never been very dirty, but I have gotten some mud tracked onto the bunk cushions by a neighbor kid. Came right off.

I'm going to try the Woolite today/tomorrow and I'll post the results. The couches aren't THAT dirty, but there are a few spots.

I had the same boat. I used a product called "Tuff Stuff" yellow and red can about $4 . I use it on my carpets ,upholstery, you name it . Spray it on , wait maybe 20-30 secs wipe off with damp cloth .. you can vac when dry . My wife loves the smell. NEVER had a problem with removing color, but like almost any product, if you use it many many times in one spot I think it could lighten the color. My 2 cents.
