I solved the problem on my 06 292. the water that goes to the step in the cabin is the water from the bilge area. The water from the step goes thru the drain and into the bilge area. Just plug the hole undernesth the step with a plug and that shouls stop the problem. Also there is a plug in the bilge area by the port bilge pump, if you put the plug in it will not allow water from the bilge to go forward to the step. The water travels up when you slow down and when the water is rough. I never get water under neath the step anymore. once and a while a wet vac the bilge area to get all the water out and too keep it cle an. |
I have an additional question...if there is water underneath the cabin seats is it related to the same issue?
should plugging the tube near the step rid all the water in the cabin including under the seats? |
check the rub rail on the side where you are getting water pop the bottom cushion out and run a hose to see if there is water getting in.

Hey Moses, have you been to Block Island yet in your 292? How did it do?
I am in Middlefield CT and I am shopping for a fastech and while the 292 is the WAY better bargain in today's market I am still thinking I should save that much more for the 353. Thanks. |

Hey Moses, have you been to Block Island yet in your 292? How did it do? Check the anchor locker. I was getting water in the storage compartments under the cabin cushions on my '06 292 and found a small hole in the very bottom of the anchor locker. Couldn't see it looking down but when I ran my hand along the bottom I felt a soft spot that must have been porous and it pushed right thru with my finger. |

:eek: Do not keep an anchor in there or you are going to have something sticking through the side of the boat.I keep mine behind the sliding door on the side behind the drivers seat.Get a heavy canvas bag and put it in a spot were it can't move. |
