Currently replacing stringers and everything else. what do you think the weight on this thing is? It has twin 350's and a 55 gal fuel tank. I'm guessing about 5500-6000 with full fuel and no passengers.

I was really not trying to burst your bubble. You were going to find out sooner or later. When ever some one is telling you speed first thing to look at is the props. 21's will not get you to the speed you want. You would need a boat that had probably 24'-26's to get to those speeds unless you can really wind out the motors. Now you MAY find out that with the 21's you hit the rev limiters and then you can put a set of 23's or more on there and you may pic up a couple miles per hour. I don't know the weight but I think your guess is about on target. I think you can go to the Formula web site and find the old brocures and get the aprox. weight that way. At any rate you will have a BLAST with that boat, enjoy.

I have an '87 242 with around 540-550 hp, I spin it at 5900 rpms with a 21 and I get 64 mph out of it with choppy water, clam water I can get around 61-62. I agree with everyone else 69 mph is a pipe dream. As far as modding it to go faster, don't! I just went through all of this with my boat. It cost me 3x what I was planning. If it isn't fast enough sell it and get a faster boat, it will be cheaper in the long run. If you're dead set on your boat, a pair of whipples would be your best bet!

I went through this over the past year as well. I have a 242 with twin 383's. I currently have 23 pitch Mirage plus's. I am getting about 4800 wot. After talking with some prop gurus, I am probably going to try some 4 blades in the spring and then get my 3 blades cleaned up and tweaked. I am thinking about propping to get 5200 wot and then would be at 3900 cruise. My last run out gave me a gps of 53 at 4200 with the 23 Mirage Plus. There is a decent hook in the hull and that will effect you as well.
