382 stereo upgrade

What is the best speaker configuration for a 1997 382. I want to change everything; Amps, stereo and speakers. I have been looking at crutchfield and they seem to have a lot of marine grade stuff. I know someone on here has done a complete overhaul and would appreciate some tips.

I'm going with Polk Audio Ultra Marine series. My buddy put 4x UM6501UM 6 1/2 component speakers with a sub in his boat last year and these speakers are awesome.

Installing in my 1989 242 LS:
PA660.4 amp
PA880 amp
these new Polk Amps are small in size but pack a punch

3 sets of MM6501UM 6 1/2 Component speakers

1 x T3600 10" sub

They are a bit on the expensive side.

As far as brand.....I have only used JL Audio for amp and speakers and have nothing but good things to say about them.

I did a few things.......

My 2002 came with 2 amps, one powering the (4) 6x9's in the cockpit, another powering the (4) 4x10's in the cabin.

I left the 6x9's and amp alone and replaced the deck with one that would accept an Ipod, powered the cabin speakers off the head unit only, and bridged the original cabin amp to power (2) 5.25's in the pic. I the added a JL 500/1 (non-marine) amp powering (2) 10in subs under the rear seat. (the pic shows the clarions that were there first).
The 5.25's were mounted in a new panel made to look like the factory panels (which were too small), I even ordered the fabric from Formula so it would match. There was just enough room behind there for the speakers to fit but raising the speakers from the floor really helped elevate the sound. Fairly low budget build that turned out pretty good.

Looks great.

Would crutchfield be the best place to look for the new gear?

Been tearing out Polk stuff and putting in Focal 6.5 CVX in polyglass in boats. Get in touch with Waves and Wheels at Lake of the Ozarks, Justin will take good care of you.
