Its priced to sell. There are a bunch out there in the $50K range that are crazy, because they aren't worth that much in this market. $34-$40K should be the going price. Driving to Colorado is worth it if that boat is what you want. The trailer stinks. Rest of the boat looks fine. Remember when you are looking, that except for trim and paint, that 1997-2009 are all the same boat. I'd pick a 454/502 Mag over the 496's. (switched in 2000 or 2001 I think)

If the boat is as it's advertized, sounds like a descent price no matter where it is.
Trailer looks like crap, wouldn't use it much other than to get it home.
Big question is, is this the boat that you want, if so go take a look.
You can't go wrong with a Formula, I've three of them.

Good luck.

Not a bad price for what it is.But you are looking at about 4500 to 5000 for a real trailer. That boat should not even be on that trailer.I would have the bottom checked for damage caused by it.I drove one of my tool trucks back from Colorado.Kansas is a really long state not sure I would tow back to NY with that trailer.Going through the mountains in western PA is not going to be fun with it.

whatever you do have the engine compression checked with you there to see it done!!! I have a 1998 271 fastech with a whippled 454 and I love it.

Thanks for the help everyone.
Zone 5 why would u take a 454/502 over the 496ho?

88242LS 02-16-2011 01:36 PM

Definetly a great price, I wouldnt let my 271 go for less then 25k, I paid 4500 for my custom trailer for my 271, best 4500 Ive ever spent, i did notice there arent numbers on that boat, theres been a similiar one for sale in Virginia somewhere, same scheme crappy trailer just wondering if its the same one

Stronger/better internal engine parts. and when the time comes that you want to make more HP, there are thousands of parts for it.

I see the standard closed cooling, to some extent Smartcraft and the Bravo One X drive as an advantage the 496HO offers over the 454/502.

closed cooling only matters if you run in salt, and then, only if you don't flush the motor.(and you still need to flush the exhaust) Its an extra thing on the motor to have to deal with. It will save you from having to winterize the block, butagain, you still have to do the exhaust and water lines. The extra 2 gallons to fill the block is a non issue. Smartcraft is a fancy electronic gauge that IMHO is a nice touch but adds little to the boat. The drive can be added to any Bravo boat. I ran a standard Bravo 1 with 630 HP in front of it for 5 years with zero issues. I like the idea of having all forged pieces in the Mark 4,Gen V/VI motors, and the availability of unlimited performance upgrades when/if you want to do them, that the 496 doesn't have.

Good looking ride, but that trailer has to go. I would not trailer that boat half way across the country on it get a new one first.

I would not back it into the driveway with that trailer.

If you want a 271 on the correct trailer, with a complete history available, here is one. Has an asking price higher than the other, but it has a lot more than the other. and no, its not mine. It was sold 3 years ago.

Go to www.midwestboatbrokerage.com look under pre owned, they have a 2000 with a stock 502 loaded, and a great trailer.

FRMULTR 03-03-2011 04:22 PM

Check the classifieds. I believe I just saw a 271 that was just listed.
