Don't know the boat, but maybe that's why it's listed at $58K, that's a pretty good price for a 2000 353 with 500s

I would get a breakdown of the engine hours before I came to any conclusions. If you looked a car with 35,000 miles, you would think it was almost new. Maybe he went through a lot of no wake zones. If a breakdown shows lots of hours over 4 grand, then factor in some $$ for engine work.

I remember seeing that boat for sale two years ago when I was in the market for a 353... Looking at the pictures, it looks to be a very clean boat, so my guess is that it probably has a lot of hours on it, or it would be sold by now.

If the 500's are still in decent running condition I would not be worried about buying it and then doing a refresh on them. The base for these engines is pretty solid, a full rebuild with rings, bearings, etc is not a huge deal. I've hooked a couple guys up with a friend of mine up here for rebuilds on 500's. He is very reasonable, and they stay together, had him do a pair for me and they are still running stronger than ever some 5 years later. If you want a contact number just send me a PM and I'll get you his phone number. This guy is real good.

I know I have a ton of money in my engines and drives, but when I see a 353 that clean going for $58000, makes my stomach hurt a little. Time to start paying a little extra on the principal, I guess.

I wouldnt be so worried about 800hrs. If compression check is good, maybe a set of valve springs.

Sounds like a good deal.

Good luck! Looks like a nice boat for the money.

If you need anything let me know.

I went for a breakfast run on this boat last summer from alton bay over to paugus bay, the boat runs strong and sounds very good, all the gauges were right where they sould be, been on a lift its whole life and yes it is very clean and not the, for its age b.s., its clean period.

800 hours without a rebuild is impressive, looks like I have 630 to go. If you end up picking it up, I'll look for you in the pond, my 02 has the same graphics and is in Oswego June and July.

Must be new sales strategy, raise price from 58k to 63.5, must not want to sell to bad.
