Changing gauges in my 242 SS
2 Attachment(s)
Hi Guys
Spring is comming up, and sonn we can start boating again here up North of Europe. I am thinking of changing the standard gauges in my 1988 242 SS 454 bravo1 330 Hp. Considering Livorsii Mega series gouges Will that be Plugg & Play with my old stuff and engine??? |
As long as you order gauges that are the same diameter and no bezels you should be ok. I just put new gauges in my formula 272 and had to have new dash panels made because the gauges would not fit with the trim bezels I bought.
Also you will have to cut the blade style connectors off of the formula wiring and add ring terminals for the livorsi gauges. All in all , honestly it is not alot of work. |

This is the dash in my 242 LS. I used Mega for the speedo and tach and standard size for everything else. It was all plug and play and quite easy.

Looks really good! Im also thinking of replacing my gauges, but Iam a not so good with the electric part. When you say plug n play, do you just have to reconnect the old wires to the new gauges in the same way?

Thanks for the replys Is this the correct size wich will fitt the 242 dash? 3-3/8" 6000 RPM Tachometer (same size for speedo) 2-1/16" Oil Pressure 2-1/16" Water Temperature 2-1/16" Fuel Level 2-1/16" Voltmeter 2-1/16" Trimmeter I considering Carbon fiber face and blue rim color What do you have as face color Carbin fiber silver? |
Those are the correct sizes. I have the silver carbon, if I was to do it over again I would go with the back carbon. In direct sunlight the silver is a bit hard to read!

I have a 26PC and I believe back in the day our gauges were they same black square vdo gauges. You did not have to change any senders or anything other than the connector ends? Also I see you swapped the depth gauge also. Did you have the stock lowrance gauge? Thanks for the info all my upstairs vinyl is at the upholsterer being recovered and the gauges were my next project to attack to make it look up to date.
