speaking from personal experience in my 2003 fastech 292...standing or sitting your face/head will be above the windshield by a considerable amount. the only way you manage to get behind the windshield is to crouch. we only do this if it starts raining or its really cold. ill try to get some pictures together of our boat.

I have an '87 242 and installed bolsters in it out of a 99 311. I cut the bases down 2", which I believe is the same height as the 271 seats. My shoulders are about level with the windshield. The Windshield deflects a lot of the wind, however when you stand you get the full force of the wind.

I'm over 6 ft. tall and my head is above the windshield in my 292. My '93 271 had captians chairs in it and my head was below windshield level making for a pretty comfortable ride.

so windshield or windscreen makes no matter with wind protection

Windscreens are typically lower than windshields. I have not seen a 271 with a windscreen. I'm old, I prefer windshields!!

Check out these wind deflectors they may help.

Google Wind Away and go to their web site.
