Great price. |
Hey car biz,
I'm just running the original delcos. Do you have a local rebuilder? I had a starter go out last year on my 311 and one the year before on my 206. Kamma motors have a top mount bellhousing. Mercruiser is a PITA bottom mount like a car, except you can't jack the stupid boat up to remove the starter from underneath. F311 starter R&R = about 10 minutes total. F206 starter R&R = about 4 hours upside down in the boat and about a QT. of blood lost. Local guy rebuilds marine starters for about $80 I think. If you buy new make sure you get a top mount starter. I spins reverse direction. Different mounting pattern too. ALJ |

Had mine done a couple of times by one guy, third time took them to someone different and was standing there when they took them apart and found lots of loose stuff inside. Thightened everything up and put locktight on the bolts and had no problems since.

Yup i know about the Top mount. I had them rebuilt in 08 BUT they are VERY noisy and when the motors are hot it seems they don't have enough ummmph to spin the motors over like i want them too.

M Magloo,
Yep, still around. I pulled my engines and all the Kaama hardware ( I mean Everything) from the F402 and sold it to a guy in central Illinois. He rerigged it from an insurance recovery boat with a TRS 420 setup. Worked out great for him and for me. Last I heard it ended up at Lake of the Ozarks or something. I sold it because I found our current F311 Kaama out in Lake Havasu, Arizona. Black with "old " #2 imron design. Much better setup for Kaama drives. The F311 hull must have been designed for Kaama drives! It's like night and day versus the F402. The 311 needs a little work here and there but it's nice for 25 years old. :drink: |
302 and 311 both have rocker in them so yes Kaamas work well on them.
