and am going to a company picnic:mad:
The swim platform comes on the boat from Formula. The boat measures 31' not including the platform. I boat with Wes, and it's one nice clean piece. Not a digital picture but this was at Lake Cumberland in KY. |
BY THE WAY MIKE YOU CAN'T GET THE SWIM PLATFORM FROM FORMULA. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A FIBERGLASS FACTORY PLATFORM FOR MINE!!!
|
Wes, except for my white rubrail, white navigation light, white hatches, and white engine grills (and Outlaw) on the side, it's like looking in a mirror. Nice looking rig. Is your silent thunder stock? I modified mine and picked up 300 rpms on the top end. Also switched to Hydromotive Quad IV's and could not believe the difference. If I didn't read the gps I would not have believed it. I picked up 5 mph at 3200 and 3 mph at the top. (originally had 23 inch Mirage, now 24's). What boat are you looking at now?
|
Hey Jokers Wild, are you interested in a silent thunder swim platform from a 311 SR1? I have a boat like Wes', small differences. (see above post). I am seriously considering going to a teal aluminum tubular swim platform from extreme marine. I have modified the interior of the silent thunder. I cut out the bonded partitions between the engine exhaust tips and the rectangular exhaust outlets on the muffler box. At the bottom of the box where originally there were small circular holes, are now big rectangular cut-outs, I worry about pelicans making nests up there. I gained 300 rpms on the top at WOT by these mods. Sounds healthier too. If your interested we might be able to work something out.

educate me a bit, how fast, any interior cockpit and cabin pictures? Did Formula have the adjustable footrest in '91, etc?
Currently got a '99 271 Fastech with a 500EFI that will run in the low 70's on a good day, upper 60's anytime, but want bigger and better ride. Also do not want the Blue paint of the High performance Merc again, no one in my boating area knows how to work on it, carries parts etc. I would still like to run in the mid 70's consistantly, will 502's in a straight V (no step) do it? |
BABY NEEDS NEW SHOES . so I need to get boat sold...
|
I have seen this Formula......It is veeeeeery clean !!!
|
To the top...Here's a side view of the silent thunder. Mine is exactly like that.
|
Adjustable footrests came in '92 on the 336. Also a change in the silent thunder platform and electric bolsters too.
I never liked the 336 as well. Other than they offered the 525SC in it.. |
Anybody looking for a nicely equipted 1993 303 SR1? I'd go 68,500 with a 2001 Sport Boat trailer? Boat is pristine!! Many extras. Email me at [email protected]. I'll be in Florida for a week, will answer when I get back. Sorry to invade the post, hope you sell yours first!
Thanks, Dave |
Uh...Dave, do you have BO or something? :D I mean you post...and then no action in the Formula forum for 5+ days!! :D
|
Wes, still for sale? Bravos or TRS?
|
Sorry, Wes's 311 is sold I bought it two weeks ago! I came down from minnesota to buy it. I have to say that they have one of the best lakes in the country for boating. And that Wes and his wife Leslie are two of the nicest people I have met they made the trip down rather easy, Thanks for your hospitality.
Don |
Don it's a shame I couldn't have took you
guys for a cat ride:drool:
|
Congrats on the purchase. The 311 was a big boat by today's marketing standards. All kidding about Dave's personal hygiene aside, his 303 SR is very clean, well equiped, and runs great. :)
|
Mike-
I heard about your black cat and would love a ride in it. A few of us from minnesota were talking about taking a trip down to S.C. this summer. Wes was saying that the parties were pretty good. What do you think? Is it worth the 19 hour drive? |
19 hours is sh*t load of hrs.
I got stuck in traffic this weekend coming home from IN. We got stuck in the TN/NC mountains. It took us 4.5 hrs. to go 42 miles:eek:
If you come down, it would be a lot of fun to do one of our poker runs. You could do an early one (when your weather is still pretty much cold). That way you get the most bang for the buck. We will keep you in touch. Just drop us an email around March for a reminder. |
DGDuck, congratulations on your 311. I'm sure you'll love it as I do mine. Outlaw
|
Congrats!

Does any one know were I can purchase a race fairing for a 311? Other wise I will just have to build one.
|
a tip
|
Thanks Mike
|
Duck that is my project. If you have any questions let me know and I will try and give ya as much info as I can. It has been a LONG project as work keeps getting in the way. This weekend SNOW and I do not want to risk it getting to the shop. Should be updating as things progress tomarrow I hope.

Thanks for your help. I just pulled the windsheild off today and brought it home with me. Know I just have to figure out how much I want to lower the front of the windsheild. I have a few ideas about how I am planning to build the fairing but how are you planning on building yours? Thanks Don |
If you go to that link you will see what I have done from start to date. I lowered it a LOT I also made it one piece with the hull so I was grinding out the hull to get it so that there is NO seam any place. It will look like it came out of the monld that way. I have a bit more to go. I hope to get some work done on it this weekend. I also totally redesigned the dash.

I must not be looking hard enough but I can't seem to find the link that you are talking about. I can't wait to see what you did for the fairing and the dash. Thanks Don |
Formula Outlaw,
I am interested in your swim platform (the stock one). I am considering a 1986 357 that has a teak platform. I think that hey look much cleaner w/ the factory one. Is it the same one? How difficult is it to attach and what parts are included to complete the job. Thanks- Bryan |
