Dash Upgrade Completed

I decided after seeing some of you on OSO and speaking with some others to undertake this ambitious task of replacing all my dash panels with the vibrant carbon fiber red panels.

I started this project in early November as I was closing my boat down for the season. It took me two days to tear everything out with proper labeling and many pictures and notes of what goes where.

I sent my old panels out to Steve @ Innotech for him to cut and match for size as well as drill most of the holes needed and label all to match stock. He did a fantastic job and was a pleasure to work with. He is a true professional, Thank you Steve for all your help.

My 2000 Fastech had the two step raised main panel which was made as a flat panel with the new one. There were six panels in all that were redone.

So after receiving all my new panels from Steve as promised I was stuck staring at them in my office. As most of you in the Northeast know, the weather was bad for a number of weeks. But last Thursday it finally cleared up and gave me the time I needed to complete the installation of all the panels.

I finally completed it last night and all the electrical tested out fine, now I’m waiting to put her in on Friday for a test run to make sure all the (new to me) but slightly used gauges work as expected.

He did on mine, and you can change it to whatever you'd like. I know that no one ever reads it, but I changed it a little for the next guy to get a laugh out of...if they ever read it!

t500 thw scary part was waiting 7 months before being able to put it all back together. I was starting to have nightmares of not being able to remember or follow my notes from back in early November.

At least you put everything back where it came from. I moved every single one of my guages to new locations (even a new pattern from the old). My guages were set with port/starboard beside each other related to oil/temp/etc. Now it's patterned port motor on port side, starboard motor on starboard side.

Here's a pic of the old. Note I had removed the compass and made a star-board plate to hold the GPS. I incorporated the GPS into the new dash.

Normally you want to put gauge functions next to each other so at a quick glance you can see a problem by quick comparision to the adjacent gauge. :drink::drink:

GARMIN GPS/Plotter in Fastech 312 dash

I recently purchased a 2002 Fastech 312. I would like to install a Garmin GPS/Plotter in the factory dash directly above the steering wheel.
I am pretty sure that the 400 series Garmins will fit in this location, but does anyone know if the 500 series Garmins will?

Cheers
Ross
