Default Replacing steering wheel on '89 292 SR-1

I just purchased an '89 292 SR-1. Been looking at them for years and finally found a real nice one at a good price. Now I want to replace the gauges, throttles and steering wheel with Livorsi products. Question is whether or not the steering shaft is round and tapered or not? Will it be a simple swap, or will I need something else other than the wheel and hub. Looking at a Momo Spargi. Also, is there enough clearance between the gauges to add a bezel to each gauge? Boat is not near so was hoping for some feedback. Thanks!
Doug

I just did the dash in my 1988 272 and I used all livorsi stuff. Gauges and bezels, steering wheel, and controls.

The gauges will fit without bezels but I wanted to use them so I need to have new dash panels made.

The steering wheel is no problem at all.

The controls required the dash to be cut out to fit them as the livorsi controls are larger than the keikhaefer controls it came with. Needed a new panel to accomodate a trim bezel for the controls as the livorsi bezel is actually wider than the factory dash panel.

Thanks Baja. Do you have any photos you could post? Also did you get the monster Mega series or just standard size? I plan to make new panels out of carbon fiber, so no problem there.

I could probably email you some pics. I used standard size gauges.

I don't know about your dash but under the tachs and speedo there were 7 factory gauges. Only 6 would fit there with the bezels. that is why I got the new panels. I moved the fuel gauge down to the panel with the ignition switches and bought tachs with built in hour meters.

i had mine made of carbon fiber as well. They look pretty good.

I did use a livorsi hub adapter, it looks really nice. Installed with no problems. But yes, it does stick out a little farther than the original. If I have the seat up on my bolster it touches my legs a bit. Not terrible and I am already used to it.

I think they make an adapter that is a little shorter than the one I used. If I did it over again I would look for the shorter one. Tilt steering would help too!
