New "old" formula owner
 

Growing up there was a formula dealer right near my house, I always loved and dreamt of owning an sr1 well that finally became reality for me today picked up an 89 272 sr1 with big blocks and bravos:evilb:

Welcome...WOW...a 272 is Very Serious with twin Big Blocks....I had an '86 272 w/twin 320 EFI's that was an Animal...I can imagine a 272 with twin Rats...Big Power & Big Torque. Hold on tight...it's going to be exciting!!!:evilb:

Yeah I traded the 230 and a couple bucks for the 272, I grew up on big sport fishing boats and was going out to get them off the mooring by myself at 10 yrs old, since then everything I've had has seemed like a bath toy now I feel like I actually have a boat again and whitecaps in the bay are no big deal ahhh sigh of relief lol

Were you running over towards East Greenwich this afternoon? Saw a similar Formula as I was headed the other way.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys, i found the 89 formula brochure and the 272 in the book is just like mine newport #1 imron, took it out for some shakedown this weekend, learned a lot about this boat, whoever put the starboard motor in hit the steering rack with the oil filter and the filter burst first time i took it to 5,000 rpm, luckily i caught it after losing only 3 qts of oil, also the seller topped off all fluids and cleaned the bilge just before i picked it up, explains why he called me every half hour on my way there, found one drive reservoir leaking, and p.s. fluid was low. heres a few more pics

and for a good laugh for everyone bob had to use the "tree" so i paddled him into a small island we were anchored next to and well the raft popped a leak and bob doesnt like to swim lol

Congrats on the purchase. 272's are awesome boats. Solid, very well made. Handles everything with ease! You'll love it.

If you have a trailer, check out the 2nd Annual Birds on the Bay thread. We'd love to have you down and show you guys a taste of NJ.

If not this year, keep an eye out for next.

Thank you split, not sure I can make it this year doing a couple runs up here and going to maryland for a diesel tuning class so toy budget is all but empty this year, but i'll def check it out and plan for it next year
