Who measures these things ??????

Was tied up at a restaurant in bristol next to a powerquest 290. Beautiful boat and from what i've seen there a lot of boat for the money but my 272 looked massive on the side of it ??? Even my buddy who was with me commented that it looked smaller. nothing against the powerquest but it sure makes it tough for consumers to compare boats when the 2' smaller boat seems bigger lol

Your 272 was measured from the Transom to the bow ...add the 24" Silent Thunder and you have 29'2" ..... The Powerquest is measured from the platform to the bow and If I had to bet the Powerquest does not measure 29'.... Probably the 272 is wider ....The older Formulas are big boats ....Timeless ......:drink:

Powerquest 290 is 27.5" not including swim plattform,29.1" with plattform...8.6" wide

I owned 3 PQ 290s in tha past, great boats,a couple of guys in our boat club have 272s not sure what your looking at but its pretty much the same size boat,,

Now put a 290PQ next to a newer Formula 292 and the PQ 290 is a much bigger boat...so whats your point?:drink:

wasnt much of a point other than side by side the 272 looked bigger, got nothing against the pq, i actually looked around at a couple last year when i saw this particular one for first time but they were out of my budget a little bit. just my view

Here's one for you to mull over. I pulled next to a Sea Ray 272 Pachanga last weekend in my 255 and my boat was longer by about a foot and my rub rail was about 12~14" higher out of the water all the way around...go figure.:evilb:

Sprink those old formula's have DEEP hulls. My 233 was just crazy tall on the trailer, but when you aired it out she landed like a cadillac

1990 was the first year manufacturers started adding molded swim platforms into the lengths....by 1992 near all of them were doing it (I know Carver and Silverton did not for awhile).
Year ago I had a 1991 310 Searay Sundancer....the next year they made the 330 Sundancer. It was the EXACT same boat even down to the colors. A couple years later they re-designed the top cap and interior but kept the same hull.....then called it the 340 Sundancer.

Formula and many others did the same thing. The older 272SR-1 are much bigger than the newer 292 fastech IMO, even though they are technically the same length.

Yes I know ...but both boats were at rest in a marina in the water...not on a trailer. I was looking down into the Pachanga.

Oh yeah I hear ya, the freeboard made you feel like your driving a truck on the water except they handle like a dream, had it not had an OMC set up there is no way I would have let it go
