formula 272/292 with mags speed?
formula 272 with mags speed? anyone got one, in 1990/91 they made a few with 454/365hp mags vs the stock 454/330 I know they run 60-63-4, what do the mags get it to, real numbers anyone got em?? also whats the 292 run with mags? I have been looking at 303's but seem to keep coming across really really good deals on the 272's, 292's and 311's

i dont have mags but was seeing 67 gps with 454 330 lower ends 781 large oval port heads dual plane intakes, prob 375-400 hp each with 23p mirages, def needed 25s could pull 5100 even with 4 200lb plus guys 130 gallons fuel and 3 full coolers. hope that helps a little if not sorry for taking up space lol

Lil thanks gives me a start, I've heard that the 292 was the same speed as the 272 with same power because the 272 was to tail heavy not sure if its true or not
|
I have heard that also, but haven't been in a 292 to verify

mag speeds
I had an '89 272 with 330's, low 60's, boring,so I upgraded the motors.High rise intake, large oval ports,cam and Imco exhaust.Now would run 70-71,turning 25 Mirage 5000-5100. I still have an '89 311 with 454 mags,stock except for Gils.Same Mirage props as used on the other boat, 4850 rpm about 67 mph.Bravo 1 props ,26 pitch ,4650 rpm ,66 mph.

I have an '89 292 with 454/365 with new cams, inconel valves, 850 Holleys, roller rockers and Revolution exhaust. Puts out about 420hp per. 5100rpms and she'll top out around 72-73 with 25 mirages.

My 292 with 6.2 MPX's, 320 HP a side runs right at 70 on GPS.

I had a 1990 292 sr1 with stock 365 mags. did add stainless marine exhaust though. Ran 67 with stock exhaust and right at 70-71 with the stainless marine exhaust, pleanty of fuel and 4 adults. Also added full hydraulic stearing and that improved the handling tremendously. Boat wanted to wander with stock steering. I think I ran 25 mirages right at 5000 to 5100. Loved the boat.

I have 454 mag 385hp gen V's with carb/intake upgrade...probably 400 hp each turning 24p bravo 1 4 blades @5000 rpm. Mirage 25p are a little faster at the same rpm but don't handle as well. Best is 70 mph but more like 68 for a full load of fuel and passengers.

My 89 292 with 330's will run 63 mph with 24 pitch Hydromotive quad IV's @ 4600 RPMs. This winter I'm removing the 525 hp 440 CI engine thats in my 242 and building a clone and putting both in my 292. Hoping for 80 MPH with 1050 hp combined.
