Formula 26 Sedan Cruiser

Has anyone ever seen a Formula 26 Sedan Cruiser? I am looking for one. Anyone know anything about them?

I.D.C.E. 09-22-2011 05:07 PM

I believe he's referring to the late 70's Formula Sedan Cruiser. Different from the PC's, back when Formula was owned by Signa Corp.

I.D.C.E. 09-23-2011 09:03 PM

Well i tried to help lol i thought PCs were getting a lil lovin on oso but false alarm.

Splitdecision271 09-24-2011 07:06 AM

All Formula models get a lil lovin on OSO.

Those are some nice pictures, especially the first and last one. I wonder why???

Splitdecision271 09-24-2011 07:10 AM

I highly recommend going through the old brochures in the vintage section on formulaboats.com. It's like a history lesson. Unbelievable all the different models Thunderbird/Signa used to manufacture compared to now. Bowriders to center consoles to fly bridges.

I'd love to get my hands on an old Formula centerconsole fishing boat.

I so want a Denali, how did it do towing that tub all that way

Splitdecision271 10-07-2011 06:11 PM

GMC's are a beast of a truck, even for a half ton.

No probs even better when i put the Hypertech tune in it. I absolutely love the truck. The whole package truck, trailer and boat travel well.

I'll vouch for the effectiveness of the hypertech. It's like night and day, makes it a completely different animal.

Hi, you have helped me indirectly. I live in an island in the middle of the Mediterranean called Malta. I own a Formula PC 26 with twin Diesels. I have seen your boat pics a dozen times! Nice boat!

Splitdecision271 12-15-2011 04:49 PM

WOW! Twin Diesels in a 26, that's an interesting setup. Never seen or heard of that before. Do they run off one fuel tank or two? What's your consumtion like?

rigoa7 12-17-2011 03:24 AM

The engines are twin 130 HP Volvopenta. They use a common fuel tank. I cruise with both at 3400 RPM having 24 Knots. Roughly the consumption is around 1.8 Liters per Mile. It depends on the sea conditions but. I actually use the boat in the sea, i.e. salt water, do you or in fresh water?

Splitdecision271 12-17-2011 07:47 AM

So you get a little over 2 miles to the gallon. For only 130hp that's pretty good.

Your a little more efficient then a gas powered single 454 which we normally see in 26's. They have 2 1/2 times that in horsepower, but probably adds on twice the weight of your 130's.

Last year was the first full season, for my 292 in saltwater. It was on a fresh water lake for its first 6 years of its life before I got my hands on it. I then kept in on a fresh water river for 3 years before going to saltwater last year.

rigoa7 12-17-2011 08:31 AM

The Diesels are quite heavy, total inc. drive 454kg each. What I like with Diesels is with a few RPM, you already have quite HP. They have turbo and after-cooled. The main reason we have lots of twin installations here is due to crossings to Sicily, which is a stretch of 60 Miles. How can I post a photo of my engines, as the forum only lets me through a URL?

rigoa7 12-17-2011 08:57 AM

What I am amazed with these boats, is that for there age they seem to stay quite young. What I really might have wished is if the 26 was a few inches wider, but in the sea, which we get quite mild waves even in Summer it give a comfortable ride. Also here in Malta in Summer it is quite hot, around 37C in the shade!

Splitdecision271 12-18-2011 10:02 AM

Never posted a picture so can't be of much help there.

Our beams are about the same, around 8ft, so I know what your talking about. I get rocked around a bit as well when it gets rough. Being the PC's sit up higher doesn't help either.

My father has a 31PC with an 11ft beam. That extra 3ft makes a world of difference.

HI I.D.C.E. can you tell me how I can post some photos of my engine bay of my FORMULA PC 26? Tks.

I was always under the impression that you had to be an "official" member but it doesn't appear to be that way.

I might be thinking of Speedwake

rigoa7 12-28-2011 10:29 AM

I do not have any pics posted on any website, but on my PC. Any ideas? If maybe you send an e-mail address I shall send you an attachment and you can post them. What do you think?
Tks.

here's another way for you

If you go to the PHOTOS tab along the top of the page you can upload jpegs etc. to the Formula section there. After you upload the picture, right click the image, select Properties, copy the URL, and paste into the insert image window to post the image.

I wish that was me! I just pulled it from the Formula Photo Section. Maybe someday I'll be at the helm of a 382, just not today.

I have a formula 262 flying bridge sedan cruiser with twin injected 350s 9'6" beam 28' LOA. I have never seen another one.

Probably won't see another unless its in a boat graveyard some where. Impressive that you've kept the old bird going.

phughes69 04-27-2013 07:32 PM

Do you have any pictures of it?
