Hydrofoils on a 271 fastech

Has anyone tried adding a hydrofoil to the cavitation plate of a 271 FasTech.

Seems the boat could easily pull a bigger prop once on plane but struggles big time getting there.

Hey, just add it. If you don't like it then you just have 4 holes you can plug with marinetex or black 3M 5200.

I've used foils on several boats and have had great results. There can be a speed loss of a mile an hour on some applications, but I have never observed a speed loss at all.

Seems the best compromise foil is the 2-piece unit that is angled up on the wings. The best for help in planing is the one piece large Stingray unit.

All you got to lose is $35 and a little testing time.

Tabs? :)

Nitrous? :D

I think I might try them.

C_Spray,

I have Bennet tabs, that's what Formula puts on the 271, but they are the small ones. Help but I still need more stern lift to get on plane, then I need bow lift once there to break the boat loose.

Contacted your recommended guy about prop selection, he stated that the 271 is the hards to prop for the above reasons. Said most of his customers have two props, at 24p for everyday and a 26 for poker runs.

I am going to try some 24 and 25 Bravo's in the next couple of weeks as well as a 24 Hydromotive Quad 4. I am looking for a labbed 26p Bravo, may give the rpm's and hole shot of the 24 with the top end close to the 26 (I hope).

By the way, what would nitrous do to a Bravo drive?

Thanks for the responses:D

Hydro 24

Hey BoatinBill. I have a 24P Hydromotive Q4 for sell if you need one. The prop's in great shape, just too much stern lift for me. I'd take $300 shipped to your door.

KC, let me try the one of off my buddy's boat first. I'll let you know though, thanks
