Changing Spark Plugs on a 242 ss
I bought my 242 at the end of the summer. I have already winterized it and put it away for the winter. When I get it back out in the Spring I plan on doing a full tune up.. Although the engine runs flawlessly, I want to have a starting point for maintenance down the road.
Anyway, everything seems pretty simple, accept for the spark plugs. Do I have to pull the exhaust manifolds off to change the spark plugs? I was hoping I could just take off the storage dividers on either side and get to the spark plugs with an extension.. Anyway, here is a pic and a video of the engine for reference.. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-t..._242SS_010.jpg http://www.youtube.com/user/Gen13kgt?feature=mhee Thanks! Andrew |
Not trying to be a smart ass ....but looks like plenty of room to me. If you take the side boards off a blind man could do it.
Seriously...yours looks easy...try it with twins some time!! |
Get a spark plug wrench with one of the pivoting heads (almost looks like a mini U-joint between the handle and the socket head). Then it will be easy and you shouldn't have to remove anything.
