10/10/2011

A Formula 382 FAS3TECH has won the 2011 Amsoil Powerboat Series Class 4 National and World Championship Titles! Ted Porter’s successful Precision Performance Engineering unlimited race team began working with TnT Racing to campaign the Formula 382 in the spring of 2010. Porter had high hopes for 2011, after looking at 2010 as a developmental year, ready and wanting to take home some hardware.

His hopes for hardware are now reality. Throughout the season, the “Formulaboats.com” team came away with two 1st place wins and also earned no lower than second place in the eight to ten boat field. These great accomplishments won them the remarkable National Championship title!

The 382 Formula FAS3TECH is powered by a pair of stock Mercury Racing 525 EFI’s. The boat was up against solid competition, with some of the others being powered by twin engines with upwards of 750 horsepower. Winning was a great feat for the Formulaboats.com team. Throughout the season the boat was piloted by Val Fiorillo of Tom’s River, New Jersey, and throttled by Trent Weyant of Palm Coast, Florida.

This past weekend in Orange Beach, Alabama, team Formulaboats.com participated in Thunder on the Gulf. Racing Friday and Sunday team Formulaboats.com accumulated enouph points to capture the 2011 OPA Amsoil World Championship! In 15’ seas, the boat took a brutal beating but managed to win it all. What an amazing accomplishment for the entire team!

Reflecting on the season and winning the 2011 Amsoil Powerboat Series Class 4 National Champion, as well as the World Championship, with the 382 Formula FAS3TECH, along with his hopes for the Formula powerboat safety and enjoyment Ted Porter said the following, “With the nature of racing being to push the limits beyond the normal use, we are so proud that the team showed the dominance of the 382 Formula FAS3TECH, but also will be able to provide valuable insight to our engineering department here at Formula, which in turn brings a safer and enjoyable product to our everyday pleasure boating consumers.”
