Impact of the Formula Brand
In reading through a few of the post in this forum I can't help but notice the impact Formula boats has had on many people for decades.
Th span of the technology and quality through the years is awe inspiring. Read the thread about the new 382 being built and powered with Ilmor Propulsion Systems...then switch back to my little project of restoring a 33 year old 255 Liberator...as well as the new guy restoring the '78 F-20 with the OMC Stringer Drive. As far apart as these boats all are in age and technology...they and we share a common bond...our loyalty to the brand ...just for what it represents. We can all share in what ever we are doing, or what ever we are upgrading or building...there is one common thread..."it's a Formula" I have owned these boats for 35 years and that says alot. I have owned others but I always seem to come back....you never forget your first Formula. |
If you've ever met any of the Porter family, or been to the plant, you'll understand why. Pride and workmanship are paramount throughout the company.

I've had the priviledge of meeting and talking to Scott Porter at the Atlantic City boat show a couple of times. He has the same thing that all of us share, an unconditional love and passion for boating. It is clearly represented in each and every model that dons the Thunderbird logo.

I just talked to Scott the other day. He looked up some P/N's for me. Talk about customer service!

My PC is my first. I am starting to itch for an SR1. The boat is amazing in every way and I can't imagine how much better the new ones must be.

My wife and I visited the factory in 2003 when my boat was being buillt ( our first new Formula - a 292 with 6.2's and latham). We had a 242 before that and loved it. We took the VIP tour and before leaving, my wife asked if Scott was in. They didn't hesitate and took us upstairs where Scott came out and send 10-15 mins with us learning about Maine and our friend's passion for Formulas. She even asked for a picture with us which was kinda cool. Great trip and super nice guy. I won't buy anything else. Enjoying our 99 353 now and having a great time with that.

I totally agree with everything you said! This is my first Formula, but I promise it won't be my last. I am not going to buy another brand. Someday maybe even a new one, however until that time comes, I still feel I am the richest man on the water in my soon to be completely overhauled 1984 242LS. After waiting an entire winter to get back on Lake Erie and back to the islands, I get almost like a 16 year old on a first date..LOL I thank the good Lord everytime I am able to be on the water, which is every Friday/Saturday/Sunday.

Wrink I read your posts and have to agree in a lot of situations we have seen this very thing. I don't get it.
