Formula at MIAMI show

Anyone know what's going to be on display?

Hopefully we can check out a 382 and dare I say a 400SS :party-smiley-004:

Looking forward to seeing some new hardware!

Splitdecision271 02-10-2012 04:54 PM

Good Luck!

No Fastech's were at the Atlantic City boat show last weekend. Just PC's & SS's.

Perfect Storm 02-10-2012 10:41 PM

I'm really disappointed too... (!) I was really hoping to see at least one FasTech in Miami next week. Looks like they're only floating the cruisers... I was at the Lauderdale show a few months ago and there weren't any FasTechs to be found there either. The Formula Cruisers are extremely beautiful boats with impecable fit & finish, but I was hoping Formula would throw us offshore geeks a bone. I guess I'll have to go drool on the Cigs & Nortechs... :drool1:

Here's the official list...

What a BUMMER. I was really looking forward to seeing a new Fastech. I guess I'll have to take a trip over to Decatur before they finish up that ILMOR 382

The 35SS is close enough to the 400 (I think) to get a feel for the boat. I'll have to keep my wife well away from that 45 Yacht, that's for sure!

Splitdecision271 02-11-2012 06:55 AM

Yup... there wasn't a single performance boat at the AC show. I'm sure there will be some in Miami.

I've heard rumors in the past that orders are down on Fastechs. That they just haven't been producing them. That the demand is there for the SS's not the fastechs. A sign of the times I guess. Made to order pretty much. Don't know what truth there is to that. Would explain why they haven't had any at the boat shows recently. The inventory's not there to display. It's been 2-3 years since I can remember seeing a fastech at a boat show up here in the Northeast.

I always liked checking out the newer models to see what improvements they've done. So that I can leverage their ideas and incorporate them into my older model to keep it some what updated.

At the Lauderdale show they had a 40ft Super Sport with a stepped hull... Impecable fit & finish, (as usual with Formula), (!) great amenities and some really cool bling with the use of LED's in the cup holders and speaker grills... The top speeds on these cruisers aren't too shabby either! If I HAD to let go of my FasTech, it would be the 35' or 40' Super Sport for me!

Seeing pictures of these beautiful boats is one thing, but actually boarding one and spending some time on one really impressed me! If wifey is pre-disposed to wanting a cruiser, I DON'T recommend it! ;)

See you in Miami! :drink:

pondrunner 02-12-2012 10:55 AM

Yep, typical "hen" behavior...got to turn everything into a nest, even a go-fast boat!?!?:party-smiley-004:

I.D.C.E. 02-13-2012 06:03 AM

AC boat show did not have a Fastech but the New York City boat show had a 353 Fastech with the new paint scheme.

Awesome. That is great news. I love looking at all the super custom stuff, but when it comes down to boats we are actually going to be in the market for next season the 382 and 400 are at the top of my list. I was going to be bummed if we were not able to see them at the show!

Being a Miami newbie, what is the proper course of action for seeing boats at the in water portion?

We are planning on spending Saturday at the convention center and talking with the reps at the booths, and Sunday at the in water portion. I have heard about boarding passes, etc. but it seems everyone does it differently. Any tips?

Looking forward to meeting some of you in MIA. :drink:

Hey Chuck, very much have interest in a used 382, especially if it's silver with Innovation 600's :grinser010: are you thinking of selling? We are looking to buy sometime in the next 8-12 months, so just now starting to shop and look at different options.

EDIT: Just looked up your project thread... and we should seriously talk in Miami. :drink:

Will you be at the Oso party Saturday?

Perfect Storm 02-13-2012 09:24 PM

I'm planning on being there with a few friends when the show opens on Friday... not sure about Saturday yet. Maybe someone could suggest a good place to meet for lunch @ the show??? :drink:

Dave ~ I still owe you that beer I promised to buy you for putting that step-plate deal together for us! :ernaehrung004:

I've been on bthe the 350 and 400ss and huge difference in the cabin, cockpit very simular, the extra 5 feet is huge, Larger fridge with freezer on top, the rear bed, head is biger and of course the kitchen area. Wife said no to the 350 and wants a 400. can't wait to get one.

axapowell 02-19-2012 11:05 AM

Sorry guys...too much to see and no time to do anything but look.

Wow, if you've never been, I highly recommend it. Eye candy for sure...And you should see the boats!

Dave, Formula is still using those crappy plastic step plates. In the fully optioned 353 in the water, they stood out like zits on a Playmate's butt. Do us all a favor, call Watson Rittenhouse at (609) 847-5109 and talk to him. Tell him that I said to call about the plates. He's a consultant for Formula, but might be able to get you in the door there. He is expecting your call.

Artie - I just sent you an email through OSO. So far, you're first in line.

It's really funny that you mentioned the "crappy plastic step plates" and how out-of-place that they look on that boat...

I was talking to Kyle Porter, (a third generation Porter) at the Formula in-water exhibit on Friday, and I brought up the fact that a lot of our OSO FasTech brethren are replacing those cheesy steps with the upgraded ones that Dave had commissioned for us. I told him about the Formula step-plate thread on OSO and he said that he was going to look into it...

Other than the step-plates, (which we all know are correctable) it sure is one beautiful boat!

Thanks alot guys! I'll get in touch with Watson this week and maybe Kyle. I got the chance to meet Scott Porter inside, but I never brought it up! That is a HOT 353! If I were ever buying another one, it would be the Silver (what do you think Chuck?).

Just thought I'd update you guys...Spoke to Kyle Porter today and Formula is going to discuss the step plates. They are going to look at the step plate threads. I'll keep you posted!

Thanks again for the support!
