Well I am the current owner of DoczDocks 1989 Formula 357. It really is a great boat, classic lines, and does a lot of things well. It is a big heavy boat that rides well, and has a ton of storage space, and is a good overnighting boat for an offshore. It is no the fastest boat out there (cruise speed of 40-45 mph and tops out at 61mph), but a very enjoyable ride, stable and safe. Like DoczDock, I would like to move up to a newer 382. In fact a friend of mine is selling his and that is what I have my eye on. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

It looks exactly the same (it has spent the last 3 years inside a rack and launch facility). Only thing that looks different is the name on the back.

I loved that boat when it was here in town... classic colors that never get old. Greg never spared a dime taking care of it either! Sweet Boat!

what is it weight were there any problems with them what should i look for any problem with the trs drives

Captain Caveman used to own a 1992 357 Formula (He now owns a 31 Sonic) Maybe he will chime in...

This is / was my first TRS boat and I have no complaints. They shift very nice and smooth (unlike the bravo's) and have performed perfect. Only routine maintenence - annual fluid changes. Only problem I have ever heard of with 357's is a leaky windshield gasket that allows water into the cabin sump under the step (at least I think I remember this). If it is wet in that area it can be a big problem. TRS drives with stock 420's should be a bullet proof combo that will give years of trouble free usage. Formula lists dry weight at 8950lbs

:party-smiley-004:great boat. very heavy 9500 lbs. 425/trs
pkg topped out at 65 mph. at speed you empty your 193 gal tank in no time. shifting the trs trans. was a dream compared to a clunking bravo. i would call this pkg. bulletproof up to 600 hrs. i sold mine for a faster, more economical 31 sonic. |
