Help Bolster Seat Issues 01 292 fastech
 

So the bolster seat is a two part seat top of backrest and bottom the two bolts that run through the bottom to the top piece where the arms would rest has broken through the marine board, and now the top front is loose! It would take one good push back or pull from the rear to snap it all the way off!! Is there a way to fix, or temporary fix this without pulling the vinyl off of them? Any help would be greatly appreciated

SO No suggestions, or help??? Has no one had this issue before???

Hmm, could you post some pics? The seats in my 86 came apart because the bolts holding them together came out. The Wood got soft enough and the T-nuts got rusted enough that they pulled through. I detailed how I fixed my seats in my thread, but they are sit down seats and I have no idea if my ideas would apply to what you have. Yours is also VERY much newer and probably a completely different design.

A picture sure would help. Are your seats McClouds or something else? Try and get some photos it would make it a lot easier to try and figure something out.

They are McClouds, left the boat at Norris so pics can be tough! There stand up Bolsters and if you rested you arms on the top about where your wrist is there is one bolt per side of bolster with washer that has pulled through the top side! The material in the seat is a marine board or some style of 1/2" plastic! Ill see if I have some pics on the computer!

Some of the internal bolts are not accessible without dismantling the seat covers. The rear padded panels should pop out allowing access to some of the leg bolts and others from underneath. I sent the seats from my 1999 353 back to the McLeod facility last year for a professional rebuild. Michael and team did a very nice job.

Joe, im sure it was pretty pricey to send to Mcleod for repair! But thanks for the heads up on the removable panel! I have a vinyl guy local ill probably take to over the winter for repair!

Yes they are expensive seats to begin with and not cheap to repair but I priced some local guys and for the price difference it wasn't worth ending up with something that didn't look original plus they replaced switches and powder coated parts that the local shops could not do good luck with the repairs!
