271 Fastech info
 

Hello all, I currently have an '89 223LS that I've had bout 2 years and enjoy. The boat has a 454 w/ Bravo drive and has been a good ride, the boat is used in the Florida intercoastal waters but I would like to be able to run in the ocean at times plus get a better ride; therefore the question.
How is the ride and power of a 2000-2005 271 Fastech with a 496 engine ?
Is the 496 a good motor(single) for that size boat ?
I see there are alot of 271 Fastech's for sale, any and all info greatly appreciated.

Well the fastech is probably 2000 lbs + heavier than the 223 LS i would think, that and 5 more feet will net you a much better ride. I came from a 232 baja before my 271 fastech and the ride is much better. I have 500 ponies in my 502 and it will touch 70, with the 496 HO i hear maybe 65, but realistically low 60's, just depends on how fast you want to go. Its a great boat, and im loving my upgrade so far!

Thank you for the reply, i pretty much would like a better ride and a little more room, i really like the lines and the cuddy is just enough so a 271 i would think will be nice and cozy.
