did you get this from the guy that also has a 292?

This is what is known as "Better than new". The only thing I wonder about is why he didn't install the remote oil filter kits on those engines? Otherwise...very nice restoration.

I saw the ebay thread on this one and was watching it just to see where it went, looks dang nice!

The OSO link doesn't work for me and I can't find it in the classified section either.... But that could just be me. :party-smiley-004: I am like that on computers.

Thanks for the nice words guys. I bought the boat from the original owner on Long Island. He does have a 292. We became friendly, and he has seen his old boat a few times during the resotration, and after completion. After seeing the job I did, he has hired me to work on his 292! We should be starting on it in the next couple of weeks.

I did not install the remote oil filters for my own reasons. I am a marine mechanic by trade, and I have seen a few perfectly good engines blow up from those oil lines letting go. I have also seen those remote adapters leak oil. I'd rather have just an oil filter direct to the block. Less chance for problems. I just changed the oil and filters last week, it wasn't hard for me. I still have the adapters, lines, and brackets, and will give them to the buyer.

I don't know how you became friendly several of us over the years, myself included have tried buying that 292 and let me say he's a real piece of work

Well, that is your opinion. I made George a real offer on the 272, and he accepted. I paid more than I wanted to, but the hull was in exceptional original condition, and I knew what the boat could be when finished. He has been very helpful during the restoration, locating parts and paperwork for the boat, well after I gave him his money. I think he is a good guy, you just got to get to know him a little.

I understand reasoning on the remote oil filter. I know with my 255 w/twins that I can't even SEE my oil filters!! That's my reason for adding them on my re-power...if they were easier to get to...believe me...I wouldn't bother with the remotes.

Beautiful work BTW. I am doing every thing you've done plus up grading to Bravo's. I am 80% through with mine so I can TRULY appreciate what you have done.:evilb:
