Fastech VS SR-1
 

Hey Guys
I am looking for the pros and cons of each series. I notice alot of Fastech boats for sale but very few SR-1s. Any and all info/input would be much appreciated, thanks John

Probably the biggest single difference is the SR1 has a mono hull and the Fastech is a stepped hull.
Both are great in their class.

all i can say is we like our mono hulls,,they ride better and plane off easier..

Lots of Sr1's out there what models you looking at? for me it came down to the 303 Sr1 VS the 312 fastech or 292 fastech, I ended up finding a real clean low hour 303 VS what was available at the time for the others and went for it, no regrets

and ya know i would put up my 311 against my buddys 353 any day:drink:

I have a 292 SR-1 that I bought at the beginning of the year. After taking my folks for a ride, they bought a 382 Fastech. The 382 obviously does better in the rough than mine but I actually like the smooth water ride better in the 292 than the stepped hull.

You have to keep in mind what kind of boating you will be doing the majority of the time. I wish most of my boating was done at 75mph in 3'ers. But thats not realistic. I do a lot of nighttime boating at 30mph. And the straight hull on the 292 has no issues at that speed. You can hear the hull cutting through the water and theres no porpoise. Whereas the stepped hull doesn't really like 30-35mph, you have to constantly work it to keep it on plane at the slower speeds. Just my perspective on two entirely different boats (that I love equally)..

I have been following this thread because I too am curious about the differences.

mainly the lower speed running. I still have to get my 272 on the water, but when we do we will be doing some tubing with the kids also. I am hoping the straight bottom and a couple of four blade - 21p props will help push her out of the hole and lower my minimum planing speed

So besides ride and top speed: I am hoping to see some comparisons of time to plane, minimum planing speed and handling in the 30 mph and lower range. I know, not designed for that, but that is why I am curious to how they will respond. At what speed does the stepped bottom become better than the straight bottom?

Just to add my 272 sr1 has 350s with alphas and 21 3 blades. I struggle to stay on plane at 30. Drives tucked tabs down and she still wants to fall off plane. To keep speed down for tubing might want a spare set of props in the 19 range. Just a thought. I've contemplated it for tubing.

I have only had mine out twice for testing, but it seemed to plane at a decent speed. Hoping to run this week again and see how it does. I tuck the drives in all the way, tabs up and 21p 4 blade solas props. Hopefully I have more to report on in a few days.
