How the hell these boats can just sit around for 10 or 15 years collecting dust is beyond me. When we purchased our 311 three years ago it too showed as new. Hardly a mark on it. The pooper was still wrapped in the plastic from the factory and the curtains and screens still folded and wrapped too. It had a whooping 200 hours on it…. over a 10 year period. We paid fair market value for it up here but ended up with basically a brand new F311. The only problem we have had to date is starter and alt. Three years later it has over 600 hours on it, and we only boat 5 months of the year up here.

I can not help you on its value, but can you come and put that shine on my 1999 271. I have never had it shine like that even after buffing and waxing. :D

Try going to NADA Guides . I did a quick pricing making some assumptions on equipment and some on the trailer.
Their quoted price was around 32K. I'm sure it's worth more.
Try it your self since you know what all is in your boat and check the trailer price too.

I have found the NADA guides are usually low. I look at boat prices constantly, and when I find one that looks like a great deal, it may be the high figure on NADA.

Still looking to run into you out here on the water. I just changed a shift cable in the 242 and should be out this weekend.

Wild Horses,

Your story sounds very familiar. Mine still had the seals on the head and fridge. Also still had the shipping plastic on the couches. The boat was at a high and dry that used to be a Formula dealer back in the mid to late 80's. It was the owners demo boat. When he lost his dealership, he put the boat on a inside rack and once a year he would take it out to a local island and run the boat for a couple hours. The boat read 48 hours when I got it. The lady at the title office couldn't believe it when I gave her a MSO on a boat that old.

Boatnbill,

I haven't even rubbed on the boat yet. I did put a coat of hand wax on it though. It does shine though!!!! You can see yourself in the black.

Iggy,

Iwas thinking about $36,500.00 I hope thats in line but I would think it would be very hard to find a true 30 foot boat with twin BBC's that runs almost 80 that clean for that kind of money regardless of the year.

Cuda,

I'll be out at Shell this week-end. I'll look for you. I should be in my boat and also with a real clean red 272.

Put the word out if anyone might be interested in the boat.

That's a beautiful old Formula! I love stories like that. I think your price sounds about right. I guess the only thing that people might not like is the drives. Most are not familiar with those.

Good luck with the sale, If you get more pictures you might send them to me, I know a guy looking for somthing like that.

I have a 1984 220 hour 402 SR-1, bought it from the original owner and have all the original paper including the delivery inspection check-list. BUC says it's worth $80k, NADA says 40, comparable ones are listed around the conutry from $39 to $50.

I'd just keep it, as the only people who even look at "old" boats are people looking for a "loss" sale. I'm sure not as clean as yours, but I've seen '86 27' Formulas listed for $19k.

302SR1, I think you should keep it until at least next spring - hopefully I can scrape up the dough to buy it by then! :) Damn nice looking boat - good luck with her no matter what you do (if you've still got it after the first of the year, we need to talk...)

I figureds the price was really low.
With a boat as exceptional as yours it's hard to put a price on it. All "book" values are assuming a certian amout of useage/hours. Your case is like finding a '69 Z-28 Camaro with every option that 's been in storage for 32 years and only 2000 miles on it. How do you price it's worth?
Only someone with extensive knowlage can help you.
