Boat Purchase
 

What are your thoughts on this boat, I am going to look at it in the next few days, as it is only an hour away from me.

The for sale post does not explain much, and the owner does not seem to know much about the boat. Does anyone here know what model it is? The owner sated to me via email that it was 26 feet long.

This would be my first boat and I was planning on taking a boaters saftey course, as well as an operators course after that. The lake we are on does not get more than 4 foot rollers, so the boat is definatly big enough. However, eventualy I would like to get it into Georgan Bay.

Its a Formula Liberator that was 25'5". I do however doubt that it has big blocks, as the Liberators only came with 260's max. I'd get the transom and stringers checked for moisture. If it's wet, it's pretty much worthless. It's hard to tell the overall condition with the small pics, but seems to be in half way decent shape. If it checks out, and runs well, it might be worth while to consider, but it better be very top notch and turn-key. Know that the book value in average shape is only around $3,000. So for $6K, even considering the trailer, it should show very well. Good luck.

Thanks Mr. M, The price is average for boats up here in the great white north. We pay more for the same product you get in the USofA.

When I am ready to go big (35'+) I will buy down in the US and most likely save well over $10G's.

I think that I will pay to get a survey done on it as I don't want a $6000 boat turn in to a $10, 000 repair. I also plan on offering way less than the $6000 as it has been on kijiji for a while.
