Hurricane Sandy Sunk My Boat.
Hi OFO gang!
Looks like Hurricane Sandy did a number on most of the boats at my marina. I had my '88 206LS hauled, winterized and soda blasted about two weeks ago. She was stored in a covered area up on blocks. I guess the storm surge picked her up and swept her back to the water. Since she's been sitting submerged in salt water for about 3 days, I'm going to bet she's a total loss. :( I've decided to cut the mourning period as short as possible and start to look for a new vessel. I think I want to stay clear of east coast and look for a freshwater boat from the mid-west. Any thoughts on good places to search? Thanks! |

craigslist, if you find something around the KC area I'll take a look for ya. It will just cost ya some Chowda, lol :ernaehrung004: |
Sorry to hear it, I saw a photo today of a Marina somewhere in NJ with a Formula 280ss just like mine that had been knocked off its blocks and lying on its side. You might look in the LOTO area lots of Formulas there.

Some guys have all the luck!!! :D :D I assume you were insured for this? The market is going to be flooded with "salvage" and parted out boats. It's gonna be crazy.

Fresh water boat, here is a link to some pictures. You will not find a cleaner turn key 242 period.

I totally agree about the local market... that's why I'm going to focus elsewhere. :) Based on some preliminary research, I'm thinking a 242LS might be the right model for me. I will probably look for something in the early 90's this time around. As I am just starting this process, are there any suggestions on engines to look for or options to avoid? |
Sorry to hear about your boat. 86242's boat sure looks super clean. Good luck with your search! If you decide to go bigger, I can help. :drink:
