382 power questions

I am back in the market for a fastech, and am looking yet again at 382's

I had an 01' 382 w/500's which was a great boat, and have found two boats that have my interest. Both boats are identically equipped including gen, hvac etc. One boat however is equipped with the 500efis, and the other is equipped with Volvo (Innovation) 600's. I am personally a big fan of the 600's however I know that the most people lean towards blue when looking for stock reliable power. If I buy the boat with 600's, will I be married to it? I don't want to regret buying the bigger motors when I can't sell the boat at a later point in time.

Just fishing for opinions here

Thanks
Corey

I had a 382 with built 540's.........any regret you might have with buying Volvo will be over-come by the increased performance while driving it!!!!

I understand your concern but the market for these boats are limited and most serious buyers know what the Innovation motors are or will find nothing but positive info about them. Personally I'd prefer the Innovation power over the Merc power.

Don't know what your looking to spend, but I have a 2004 525 powered 382 priced lower then any other 525 out there. Loaded on an alum trailer.

The 600 Innovations will win your heart. I'm at 650 hours on mine. In a heavy boat like a 382, the extra grunt makes cruising at 55 mph a piece of cake.

I am certainly a fan of the Innovations as I've owned them in a Donzi 38ZX. They ran beautifully and made great power. My only concern is a resale issue. I am leaning towards the boat powered with the 600's as long as I can make a decent deal on the boat. Both boats contain formula famous failed headliners, but outside of that issue appear to be very well cared for.

Thanks
Corey
