Those 600 Innovations are awesome in my book. I believe that this is a boat that was converted by the factory to Bravo drives. Eddie Young can tell you more; I believe that he has driven it.

Chuck, if I remember I think you have said those engines with the DPX drives are good for low 80's ? Forgive me if I am way off. But just out of curiosity do you think this boat would be faster with Bravo's? Only having one prop on each drive, is my thinking.
Also I have read on here that this boat has bravo's because the owner blew up the DPX's, that doesn't seem right to me. I always had heard the DPX's are stronger so this conversion seems odd to me. |
DPX's are better at cruise, but a couple mph slower at WOT. In order to get around this, boatbuilders starting installing DPX's at higher x-dimensions, which set up some bad harmonics. Several 382's were hybridized with the Innovation engines and Bravo drives. Yes - the boat should run high 70's / low 80's.
At 540 cubic inches, the engines are not highly stressed at all. I'm over 600 hours on mine with no issues. I replaced valve springs at 350 hours, just to be safe. None were broken or collapsed. |
