I use an FX-7 with 6' chain and 100' rope on my 6K lb 26' boat. Hooks hard in mud and clay bottoms. Can be a bit tricky to get set in really hard clay. I tried a small box anchor this past summer as a stern anchor to help with swinging in windy conditions. At the recommended 2:1 scope in a mud bottom, it did not hold my boat when a storm kicked up. As we were accelerating towards the back of the cove I finally had to have my wife fire the boat up and back up while I retrieved line. At that point I was well into at least a 5:1 scope and the anchor was still sliding along the bottom. It brought up half the lake bottom when I retrieved it making a mess of the swim platform. I know many people swear by them but I found the box anchor to be cumbersome to deploy and retrieve and it did not hold as advertised.

After I got my box anchor, I threw my Fortress in the trash, but I think it was an FX-23? :D Too much hassle where we boat. :D

That is why you use the Fortress huh? You anchor your trailer down so it won't blow away in the massive snow storms? LOL :party-smiley-004::lolhit::lolhit: |
This is a joke. Everyone is freaking out and I only have about 8" on the ground. The news said we would have well over a foot by now. You of all people should know the importance of more then one boat! :D

Jon, I've actually been thinking of you, and hoping you and yours will be fine through the light dusting you're going to get.
