311 Info
 

Hi guys! I am looking at buying an 89 311 with twin 454 mags and hoping that you could tell be anything about them such as speeds with stock power and how they handle and common problems. I am far from a newbie to boating and older boats and have just finished my second transom replacement earlier this winter so I already know how to look for rot in general but wouldn’t mind info on any specific to the 311 rot problems.

Well the 311 is no speed demon, buddy has 454's and it runs 62/63 mags will get you a touch more, like any older boat stringers bulkhead and transom, common areas would be the bulkhead in senter of boat under windshield as alotta windshields tending to leak, and was undetectable until damage was done, otherwise you get a ton of bang for buck with the 311, they might be slower bye today's standards but you can run thru anything your local watering hole can throw at you,

BTW many will tell you that the 425/trs combo is the best setup,

my trs 311 with 525hp runs in the 70's
