Remodeling 302 SR1
 

Hello All,

I'm remodeling my 1985 302 SR-1 and currently working on the Cabin and cannot figure out how to remove the center facing benches to re-upholster. Can any one help please.

There are screws down in the crease of the material.

Yep, remove the screws and they will come right out did this ony 242 when I redid the seat bottoms.

Thank you, after reading your post I found the screws 2 on the backrest and 2 on the seat really easy to take out.

Well I got the boat last year, this is my first boat, did not know anything about boats and so after going ouy in the water a few times both impellers where broken so i overheated the motors and warp the heads. I started looking for forums and found this one and found the thread about the 496 out of a 454 talk it over with some old timers from Cuba and spend most of last year working on it, and really just buying beer for them and driving them to get parts, all and all a little less than 5 k on it. Took the boat out January 1, 4 people on board half a tank two coolers 73 mph on the GPS. Might be able to go faster, since I don't like jumping around to much I keep the trim tabs down. Any ways in April took all the cockpit stuff to get upholster, removed windscreen and handrails and new wiring is getting done as I write hopefully will get in the water Saturday will get more pics from the whole thing this week and load them for now.

I like it! Been looking at 302's lately myself. For the right price, a project would be nice and a redesigned cockpit to optimize room.

Thats great speed. Im getting 61 on GPS with my 330hp stock 454's. 23p three blade props. Did you do the graphics? is it a wrap? As for the cabin, we love the space it provides.

Confirm the power you have. Twin 496 with 425 hp?

I believe I'm closer to 500 for what i was told however it was never dyno so I can say for sure also the best they could do with the timing chain was about 12-13 k idle. I have Bravo I 26p four blades props. As for the graphics I have a friend who does wraps in Medley FL, and he did it for me.

The cabin in this boats are great and I'm replacing as much as possible with PVC and aluminum brackets for reinforcement in some places to make everything lighter the small fridge was taken out also, I use coolers and get ice form a place that sells ice to food trucks, as long as it is in the cooler it will last Friday night, Saturday and Sunday night around 10 when I clean out the boat I still have at least 1/3 of it.
