What's a descent price for my 311?
I've had it almost 3 seasons and dropped some coin into it on interior. Good solid boat but I want head room and something longer. Is my price fair?

That's mine. Just got a deposit on the hull minus motors and drives. I had it on Craigslist 24k not one call

The issue with putting money into an older boat is that you rarely, if ever get your money back out if it.
$24k is OK, but you still may not get much action. $19.9k may be better if you need to sell it soon. FWIW, there is a fairly stock 311 (1990) in North Falmouth, MA that has been on the market since last year. I looked at it in July 2012, it was listed at $34.9k . . . Now It is $24.9k . . . Still there when I last checked. |
My buddy just sold a clean 292 for mid 20's. I think the price seems ok if you don't mind waiting a bit for the right buyer. But 19,900 should get it sold sooner.

To sell it now you are looking at walking away with sub $20s by looking at what has been on the market and how long boats have been listed. Look at it this way, if you sell undervalued a bit now you can also buy undervalued right now. It only would financially hurt if your pulling your $ out of boating or if you wait to spring and have to pony up extra coin because its the nicest boat you've seen, the seller knows it and its the beginning of boating season.

I figured that was the case. I would hate to price it a 20k then get low balled. Just figured I'd get some offers at the current price, but then again it is the end of the season.

Your right on, we've all been there with boats, houses, cars, etc. Sometimes sucking it up and moving on to another deal works out best. Its what your comfortable with doing. Look at the boat strictly from a buyers point of view and take emotion out of it (I replaced this and Improved that, limited edition, blah blah). Most or not all of your efforts are usually maintenance or updating that should have been done anyways and those things do not add value, they add the ability to sell.
