Wow there was a 2nd scorpion boat in my backyard and I didn't even know about it!?! Not surprised based on the hours. I might have to check this out

u better!

This is the boat I have a deposit on, hoping to do inspection and sea trial as soon the weather allows the boat to be taken out of storage. Only thing it needs in my opinion are K Planes, I'm working on finding a used set of 280s now.

I'm coming from a 25 outlaw, so I'm gonna give the Fastech a try before I buy my final boat. I'm think it will be the same choice as your buddy, the 353 is a sweet ride.

Right now, I think this 29 will be the perfect combo for increased size, speed and model year while staying on budget. I'm know I can get something larger in the same price range but my main concern is operational costs (fuel, maintenance, repairs and insurance).

the twin small blocks make it pretty decent, I tried buying a 292 when I bought mine but they were just a smidge high then, with that said I'm glad I got the 303 over the 292, not much difference, but enough, but when maintaing I wish they were small blocks LMAO

Splitdecision271 03-03-2016 07:30 AM

maintenance on the small blocks is easy. the normal stuff. plugs, cap & rotor, impellers, oil. the quarters are a bit tight to get into on the 292. usually handing upside down for impellars and laying over the engine to get to the outside plugs but aside from a chipped exhaust valve 3 seasons ago they are pretty manageable. I have 350s in my 292. In addition to all that previous stuff I mentioned, with the 6.2s you may have a few IACs that need to be replaced cause they have a tendency to overheat. Not all that familiar with scorpions, I've heard & read really good stories and then there are bad ones. I think you get those with any high performance engine.

Hoping to do inspections, sea trial, and take delivery this week!

Splitdecision271 03-22-2016 12:16 PM

Good luck! 292 is a fun lil boat. 377s should make it even more fun

Looks great! I find Lime-Away works good for removing hard water deposits on props and other stainless steel hardware back there. Should clean up nice and run real good with those engines. Good luck!

LUCKY! Maybe you will be ready to step up at the same time I am ready to step up. That is the exact setup that I want to go up to next. Good find, I hope it all goes well! Maybe we will see it down on the Chesapeake Bay near Kent Island one day!
