Now that`s a clean little 242.

Fischan 01-22-2014 09:26 PM

Wow! That is super clean. Only a couple issues the camera picked up. Starboard side exhaust burned the transom and the gunwale vinyl under the grab bars needs replacing. Why the 50 mph max listed speed?

doc_texoma 01-22-2014 10:11 PM

looks like exhaust burns on both sides? beautiful boat though.. looks 10 years newer if not more..

sprink58 01-24-2014 09:34 AM

Bristol condition!!

Fischan 01-27-2014 12:54 PM

It sold already!

88242LS 01-27-2014 03:47 PM

And for thpse out there that say 15k is to much for a 88/90 boat there's your sign!!!! lesson learned a well kept Formula will always sell!

88242LS 01-27-2014 03:48 PM

and it doesn't have bolsters!!!! LOL

Gh700xx 01-27-2014 04:01 PM

love the 242's spent many many many hours in one with a 502 and hawk when driving for merc. Solid boats tough too we abused the crap outa that thing and it never missed a beat.

How fast was it with that combo? Mine hit a best of 63 with a 502/Bravo1 combo.

Gh700xx 01-28-2014 09:49 AM

With a perfect day half or less fuel with one or two ppl and good temp you touch 70 on GPS

Gh700xx 01-28-2014 11:30 AM

but like I said that's with a Hawk not a bravo

Fischan 01-28-2014 12:06 PM

Thats cool! Did it plane ok?

Gh700xx 01-28-2014 04:20 PM

eehhh depends on your definition of ok I definitely wouldn't try to pull a skier with it lol but it wasn't horrible. I would say not quite twice as long to on plane maybe half again longer than usual. but it would run damn good. I think we actually saw over 70 one time but I wasn't present for that so I don't believe it till I see it. but it was a sold and stable old boat. might try to track one down after I get most my fountain paid for lol.

I paid $12,000 for 1990 F206LS with 175 hours on it. One owner, stored in heated and air conditioned basement its entire life.

Boat looked liked it was just from the showroom. Had new batteries, custom covers, trailer, etc.

To some that price is high, but we were on lake all summer, I didn't have to spend 3 seasons repairing rotted wood and rebuilding engines.

Gh700xx 01-29-2014 01:09 PM

theyre tough as nails I will give em that

they can be had, depends on how many and whats available, options come into play perhaps more then anything, my 303 is ultra rare with 502's and 1/1 with my paint scheme, there were other cheaper, and even a cpl 312's in my range, but i had to have it,

TaDa!

This was when we just got it home, don't think we even washed it yet. It came with a full cover that went from the bow eye to the outdrive, and chine to chine, super heavy, the cover weighs about 50 pounds. pics aren't the greatest, took them with a galaxy tab.

The interior vinyl is original and still tight, no mods ever to the boat, not even a compass, as fresh and clean as day one!

The PO did upgrade the cockpit fire extinguisher to a rechargeable one and I had to do a some delayed maintenance items like a fuel pump, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, impeller, and bellows. Nothing major and I do all my own work so it wasn't too expensive.

There was an exhaust leak between the platform and transom but when I pulled the platform all the gaskets were still good. Found that the interior seam wasn't sealed and the exhaust was coming out from the back of the swim platform so I smeared about 5 tubes of 3M 5200 in there, seems to have done the trick as the back stayed clean all summer. Was only leaking on the starboard side.

Also depends on what you consider reasonable. Some people wouldn't pay what I paid but I thought it was a bargain. What can you buy new for 12k, a waverunner? and I didn't want some rotted, worn out project at any price.

Yeah, was a total fluke that I found it. I am in Detroit area, seller was in West Virginia. Found the craigslist ad using searchtempest. There were no lakes by this guy so that section of CL was sparse, and I was lucky enough to see it 2 days after he posted it :)

When I was in my early 20's a local marina had a 206ls in palm beach colors, I used drive out there a few times per week to sit in the boat and dream, couldn't afford it then. Needless to say the first time I hit the water it was like living that dream.

Sweet, love the yellow, dont see that combo often,

The first ride in mine was like that too! I hopped from pachangas to formulas for a couple hours while I waited for my parents to decide which boat to buy in the showroom. I was only around 10 years old but I already knew I wanted them to buy a go fast! I was super disappointed when they came back to get me and said they bought a 1985 18' thompson. In the end It did teach me a love for the water though. Cheers to making dreams come true!

I had a 1989 206 LS and absolutely loved it.... She could take a beating and arguably the best ride on any boat 20ft and under... Unfortunately, Hurricane Irene swept her away.... Now, I am fully enjoying my 242ss with eyes on a 311 in the near future!

302 01-31-2014 01:41 PM

Stupid hurricane.

Yes, for a 20 footer the ride is awesome. When I take people out who own bigger boats they are shocked at how quiet and smooth the ride is.
