Just FYI for comparison

My Stock 1981 Formula F302 LS with
twin 330,
TRS,
exhaust out the prop (bob tail exhaust manifolds not the better center rise),
Merc II transmissions.
Full 105 gallons on board.
800 lbs people and cargo.
23 Pitch props.
at sea level

Runs 57 MPH GPS average.

I wonder if work go a little faster with a higher pitch.

What RPM's are your engines turning at 57 MPH?

I do not know, my tach is like a suggestion.

I read some people claiming their boats run in the low 60's and thought that seemed a little fast or they had a little modifications. To get a true MPH you should run both ways to get rid of current and wind variables.

I had an1985 302 sr1 stock 330's exhaust under swim platform .23 p mirage plus 3 blades, and 23p Hydromotives 4 blade terminators, Fully trimmed best I got was 62 on gps. 57 thru prop probably about right. I would highly recommend the hydromotive props, no top end difference but like a totally different boat.

New
Same setup but
500 lbs of people and cargo
Shortened the bow rail (I assume almost not effect.)
Removed the bow light (I assume almost not effect.)
Polished and waxed the (top and sides only) boat
Removed rub rail and aluminium, through bolted the hull all the way around and sealed with 3M 5200. (I wonder if the added ridigity had any effect?).
Has a little tail wind (nothing major)
Trimmed up all the way
It went 62 mph GPS on 2 back to back passes!!! Same props etc.

I sure think that is pretty good performance for just 330 TRS's. I wonder what it would do if I polished the bottom.

Nothing you mentioned have you a performance gain. Waxing bottom won't either. You either had a better current or slightly more chop or more trim. Also you had a little less weight but no mention of fuel. Just a heads up.

I agree with ICU. my best is 61 on GPS. 1986 F302; Stock 454 330hp motors, TRS, 1/4 to 1/2 tank, 23p mirage props. Long Beach, CA. Definitely helps to trim up and out.

May be posting my boat for sale in April.

I agree too w/ ICU but I have run the boat a number of times and 4-5 miles per hour is a big change. I did testing on a old Bayliner in the past and polish/waxing did yield better results for me. So I ran it twice to verify. The tank was full be we were trimmed a little better and had a little less weight. Regardless I am impressed how fast it goes. I should do some additional testing. I hope to advance the timing a spec more to get another mph or 2. May be I can get a picture.
