Boat is home safe and sound! Pictures to follow in a few. Had a chance to sea trial it yesterday and it ran great.

Congrats! What dose it have for power? 454 mag's?

auto_werks 3.6 04-01-2014 01:36 PM

It has 454 420s... Sea trial went reasonably well... I think we made some battery management mistakes or it has a draw on it from somewhere. Probably would have gotten stuck if we hadn't switched to one battery for floating around and enjoying the day. She runs great, and we saw just sub 60 mph on the GPS between dodging trees and tires etc at the dam. My SO loves it, and was very surprised at how big a 35 is lol.

masi242 04-01-2014 02:35 PM

Very nice looking Congrats

88242LS 04-01-2014 09:01 PM

where was it from?

RT930turbo 04-03-2014 02:02 PM

The boat was originally in NY, spent some time in Toledo, and most recently it was on st Clair in Detroit.

That's the one, belonged to Jriggs on the board for a few years before that. Have any scoop on it prior to its ohio life? :)

Belonged to Doczdoc here locally, very nice boat and very well maintained, lift kept, 2/3 owners since, but no one has kept it very long not sure why, last time I saw pics it still looked great

That's the same boat. It's still very very nice.

jriggs 04-04-2014 09:41 AM

You are correct 242ls. I bought the boat back in 2009 from Greg (Doczdoc) and know the history of the boat very well dating back to 2004. Not sure on the battery issue, never had anbything like that going on when I owned it, hopefully it is just a bad battery. Glad to see the boat will be back on Lake Erie this summer.

aquaforce 04-04-2014 11:05 AM

Congrats on the Formula, that is cool. That boat is the identical twin to mine that came out of PA. Well kind of identical, my mills are stroked for 500HP with TRS. I assume this one is TRS also?

We are hoping to wear the boat out here in Atl this year. :boat:

Well if the other 357 owners are like me this is a step in the direction of a 382. That is ultimately where I want to be but this works well for now; I'm on the water. Once the stars line up mine will be for sale too because I will be moving up to a 382.:D

jriggs 04-04-2014 11:39 AM

That is what I did and the only reason I sold the 357....... I really like my 382, but still think the 357 is an awsome boat. Love the looks / lines of th eold SR1 boats.

We dug I to it last night, and there is no heavy ground wire from battery 1 to the ground bus. Hooking a jumper cable to the engine and she cranked over no problem

Sounds like someone removed th batteries for winter storage and they didn't get put back in properly or something. I remember installing new batteries in the boat shortly before I sold it.

I wish I had access to the boat right now, because the more I think about it the more I think the last monkey who changed the batteries might have missed the negative in a rush to head to the lake :helmet: ..... I guess I get what I pay for at the service department at Clark's storage barn. Poor Artie is running around installing batteries for free and then taking the blame when it doesnt work out.

I also changed the stereo wiring a bit too. The head unit was hardwired to the right battery and the amp was hardwired to the left. I moved everything to the left so we can listen to the radio without using both banks. Looking forward to some more warmer weather so we can test her out again.

Rigger, please.

jriggs 04-04-2014 02:06 PM

When I bought the boat it had three small amps installed under the sink. I purchased the MB Quartz amp and threw it in there using the existing wires. If memory serves, it had some pretty heavy duty wiring running up from the engine compartment (like #2 wire) and it ran to the battery on the port side. I can also tell you if you push the amp to hard it will overheat in like 20 minutes or so and cut out. So if you are at the dock and cranking the tunes you need to leave the door open and put a small fan on it or something.

Sounds like you better trailer over to an Autozone or something and have them check "Clark's Storage Barn's" work.
