353 Cabin Hatch Hinge Reattachment
One of the hinges on my 353's cabin hatches came unattached from the glass over the winter. Bomar's recommendation for fixing is to replace the entire lens including a new hinge which seems like overkill since my hatch is fine and is painted with graphics. It appears the hinge mount is just glued onto the glass but the mfgr says they are "thermally fused". Has anyone repaired this mount and what method or glue did you use? Thanks

I tried everything everything and nothing lasted more than a month or so. I ended up glueing and drilling a tiny hole then putting a stainless nut/bolt. You can't even tell, you'll be the only one that knows it's done

Did you try 2 part epoxy? I don"t see how they stick to the glass to begin with if nothing will hold. We had a real bad winter and I think the extreme cold did it in. I have a tile bit that will drill glass but want to keep that as my last resort.

The best stuff I used was the 5200 but it still came apart after a month. Give it a shot why not

I didn't know 5200 came apart from anything! That **** is like herpes, once it is stuck to something, it is stuck there forever usually.
I wonder how urethane windshield adhesive would work? |
Thats what I was thinking - rear view mirror adhesive.

I believe that the hinges are ultrasonically welded to the hatch, since the two parts are different materials. When I had to repair a hatch that blew open, the only thing that worked long-term was the nut/bolt fix. The lens is not all that pricey, but the graphics issue probably is. Bummer...
