Hired a local vinyl guy. Do you guys think this is acceptable?

I believe the pro's use heat / steam to remove wrinkles, unfortunately that doesn't look like professional work and I don't think any amount of heat / steam will resolve those issues. If you're going to try and reason with him you'll have to be objective and you guys are going to have agree on what amount of wrinkles is industry standard and decide if you have more or less than that. As far as I know 0 wrinkles is industry standard and it looks like you have alot more than 0. How many wrinkles were in the upholstery when you brought it in? Probably less than now and I'm sure you had the seat recovered for reasons other than wrinkles, with that said why would he think that it's acceptable to replace a seat with no wrinkles with one full of wrinkles? I would assume you were willing to pay $1700 because you were trying to make your seat better than it was, I'm guessing at this point you merely traded one problem for another? That should be worth much less than $1700. Best of luck to you, I wouldn't give him a penny and like others said I would start from scratch, I'm sure you can resolve this for less than $1700 even starting from scratch. Just some thoughts, hope it helps.

Honestly yea, the wrinkles are pretty bad, but the way the seams wander around makes my eyes bug out. I could look at a wrinkly seat if I had to (no pun intended), but I couldn't stand to look at the Picaso that he turned it into. It may actually look worse if the work was a little tighter.

Well, this isn't the outcome I was hoping for but it looks like I will be moving forward with purchasing a new seat. Unless anyone knows where I can find a used one?
I called Paul Compagnon again last week with no call back. I called again this week and he did call me back. Telling me I pay in full or he sells my seat in 30 days.
Poor business man.

I'm posting his name here so that if people search(google) for reviews they might find this thread, see the pictures(on page 1), and can see what they might be getting for workmanship and attitude before engaging on a project with him.
I appreciate everyones feedback here. As you can imagine I've been stressing about this whole deal and he has now basically ruined my seat and my 2014 boating season. But, at least I can sleep at night when I have 60 posts of people that agree with me. You guys are awesome!

LOL, Who would buy it? Not exactly a lot of people beating the door down looking for a poorly covered 382 seat. You'd have to have a really bad seat to buy that one as an upgrade. The ironic thing is the cost for him to redo it would probably be much less than the difference in what you'd pay if it was done properly and what he'll get if he can sell it. Of course this assumes that he can actually do a good job.

He'll never sell it, but if he dose find someone to buy it, they deserve each other. He's trying to play hardball with you. Stick to your guns and tell him to stick it. I can't believe anyone in business trying to pass that off as being acceptable.

Go to the ripoff.com website http://ripoff.com/ and get his name up in lights. Every time someone searches his company name, it will come up. Members here might also be willing to help keep him on top of the list ensuring that his company name continues to be mud. Also file a complaint with the better business bureau. If the shop that referred him has also pi_ _ ed you off, you can do them too. One good turn deserves another.

If you google the business and town, it only seems to come up as a listing on "finditnow.com"
You could leave a review there as well and point them to your pictures.
It seems that there are quite a few upholstery places in the Burlington/Colchester area, but this guy looks likes a nobody versus many of the others . . . Barely a listing, no web site, etc.
It is no wonder that no information came up about the business. Your posts are now showing up on google, but unless the guy is Internet savvy (probably not) your posts may not have much of an immediate effect. That is why it is important to have all of you legal re-courses in motion as the clock is ticking.
